Laurelwood Brings a New Chapter of Alternative Rock to Gainesville
When live music returns to Moe’s Record Shop on Saturday, May 30th, it’ll also mark the hometown debut of one of Gainesville’s newest bands: Laurelwood.
The five-piece alternative pop-rock group blends the emotional weight of ‘90s alternative rock with the melodic hooks and atmosphere of modern indie music. Their sound lives somewhere between driving guitars, big choruses, and honest storytelling.
Laurelwood wasn’t built overnight
The band was formed from the reunion of four former members of Atlanta-based group Tyler Talks to Doors, a local favorite that originally formed in 2014. Years later, unfinished songs and a renewed love for making music together pulled the members back into the same room. This new chapter also introduced bassist Derek Nunn — brother of vocalist Paris Carson — adding a fresh dynamic and stronger sense of connection to the band.
The current lineup includes:
Paris Carson — vocals
Adam Jaco — lead guitar
Daniel Plont — rhythm guitar
Derek Nunn — bass
Tyler Seibert — drums
Laurelwood
From Left to Right, the members of Laurelwood are Paris Carson, Daniel Plont, Tyler Seibert, Adam Jaco and Derek Nunn.
At the heart of Laurelwood is the longtime songwriting partnership between Carson and Jaco, who have been writing music together since they were teenagers. What started with friends playing acoustic guitars and sharing lyrics or ideas, eventually evolved into the foundation of the band’s sound today: balancing nostalgia, vulnerability, and explosive guitar-driven moments.
Their music pulls inspiration from the bands that helped define alternative rock in the first place — songs meant to be sung in crowded rooms, guitars that feel both gritty and melodic, and lyrics that land somewhere between late-night honesty and reckless optimism.
Now, Laurelwood is stepping into a new era with fresh music, hometown shows, and the excitement of finally bringing these songs to life together…the way they were meant to be.
Their debut performance at Moe’s Record Shop on May 30th will not only celebrate the return of live music to the shop, but also the beginning of a brand new chapter for a Gainesville band ready to make some noise.
