Bands with a Bond: The Evolution of Adjy and ABANDCALLEDLOVE
Two of the most creatively ambitious acts in the Southeast—Adjy and ABANDCALLEDLOVE—recently shared the stage at Moe’s Record Shop, delivering an unforgettable night of storytelling, emotion, and musical craftsmanship. This blog takes a deeper look into these bands, their origins, and their connection through shared band member, Ian Joshua Riley.
Meet ABANDCALLEDLOVE.
ABANDCALLEDLOVE. is an indie/alternative/pop rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. Formed in 2020 by producer/songwriter/vocalist Ryan Chandler Love and guitarist/producer Ian Joshua Riley, the project quickly evolved to include Blake Aldridge (guitar) , Brooks Roberts (bass), and Austin Yagle (drums), forming a dynamic and emotionally rich lineup. With just fifteen live shows under their belt—many of which have sold out iconic venues like The Masquerade—the band has already created major buzz across the Southeast. Their releases like "Colors Bloom," "INFINITE," and "Dots on a Spinning Sphere" reveal their intricate songwriting, layered arrangements, and atmospheric edge. A debut EP is set to drop in Summer 2025, marking the next chapter of their growing journey.

Discover Adjy.
Adjy is a Chattanooga-based post-emo/indie-rock collective, led by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Christopher Noyes’ and accompanied by Griffin Smith, Grace Belt, Mary Quasarano, Luke Merce, and Ian Joshua Riley. Known for their conceptual storytelling, theatrical instrumentation, and intricate arrangements, Adjy first emerged with the EP Prelude (.3333) in 2015 before releasing their ambitious debut album The Idyll Opus (I-VI). This project was not only a musical release but also a multimedia experience—delivered as a 175-page hardcover book.
With influences rooted in literature, philosophy, and orchestral sounds, Adjy blends indie rock and post-rock with everything from spoken word to vibraphones, creating a sound described as “the school marching band playing desperate indie rock hymns about a mythical summer camp love story set in the 2000s.” Their music is emotionally layered and intentionally immersive, inviting listeners into a world that feels both cerebral and cinematic.
Check out a few of their top tracks like, “In Medias Res (Between Longing & Mystery),” “Where June Meets July: VII. The Cicada’s Song Pt. II,”and their latest single “The Festival Grounds.”
Unlike most bands, Adjy has chosen to remain absent from social media, encouraging fans to engage through their website, theidyllopus.com, and their music alone.
